How a Norvyn Cuff Is Made and why we tell you

Every cuff starts as a bar of solid copper, not a plated blank. It is shaped into an open cuff. The edges are rounded so nothing catches on a sleeve. The surface is brushed by hand to a soft satin. Then a sample from every batch goes to a lab and is tested for lead, nickel, cadmium and PFAS. Only after that does a cuff go into its black box with a pouch.

Our ankle sleeves are made the same plain way. The copper is part of the nylon yarn, knitted through the fabric with the pattern in. The lining is soft latex silk. Every pack holds two pairs, so one is always dry.

Most copper brands could describe their process like this. Most never do. We would rather you know exactly what you are putting on your skin, and check it yourself. A magnet will not stick to the cuff. After a week it starts to show the color that only real copper turns.

Is Norvyn copper real, solid copper? +

Yes. The cuff is 100% solid copper with no plating and no coating, and every batch is lab tested for lead, nickel, cadmium and PFAS. Two checks you can do at home: a magnet will not stick to it, and after a few days of wear it starts to darken the way only real copper does. The ankle sleeves are a knit of 60% copper nylon, 25% latex silk and 15% spandex, with the copper in the yarn itself.

Will copper turn my skin green? +

The cuff can leave a faint green mark on the wrist, especially after a shower or a hot day. It washes off with soap and water and fades as the copper builds its patina. Coated bracelets do not do this while the coating holds, because the copper never touches you. The ankle sleeves do not mark the skin; the copper there is knitted into the yarn.

How do I pick a size? +

The cuff is one size that you set yourself. It adjusts from 6.25 to 8.5 inches around the wrist, which covers a small woman's wrist and a large man's. The ankle sleeves come in S to XL by body weight: S 88 to 110 lb, M 110 to 154 lb, L 154 to 182 lb, XL 182 to 220 lb. Between sizes, size up.
