Two things are going on in this sleeve, and we keep them separate. The support you feel is the compression. A medium compression knit hugs the ankle, heel and arch. It helps keep fluid moving, so swelling stays down. It steadies an ankle that rolls easily. Doctors and podiatrists have recommended compression for years, so that part needs no explaining. The copper is in the nylon yarn, and its job is freshness. Copper fabric is used for odor control. That is why wearers say things like "they never smelled" after a week of wear. Care
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle, or rinse them in the sink. Air dry. Do not put them in the dryer and do not iron them. Heat is what wears out compression fabric. With two pairs in the pack, wash one while you wear the other. The knit contains latex silk. If your skin gets itchy or red, take them off and let it settle. If it comes back, you may be sensitive to latex, and the 60-day return covers that.

Can I machine wash them?

How long can I wear them, and when should I not?

Most wearers put them on in the morning and take them off at night, including full 12-hour shifts. If it feels snug, that is right. If your toes tingle or go pale, take them off, because that means the size is too small. Many wearers keep them on at night as well; see the sleeping question below.
They are for everyday support and recovery. For a fresh sprain, or anything a doctor would put in a rigid brace or a boot, use that first. Come back to the sleeve when you are walking again.

Snug is right, too tight is not. If you cannot get them on at all, or your toes tingle, go up a size. If you are buying for a parent whose hands are weak, they will need help the first few times.
